EnergoService has completed a stage of the project “Replacement of portal monitors at Checkpoints-1 and Checkpoints-4” at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant

The GEM™-5 portal monitors from Mirion Technologies have been successfully installed at the Checkpoint-4 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. These monitors are designed to detect potential radioactive contamination of personnel passing through the checkpoint. They offer the latest gamma contamination detection capabilities to ensure reliable and accurate monitoring.

Advanced algorithms for “rapid tracking” of background trends provide optimal performance in any radiation environment. The GEM™-5 monitors are fully compliant with the requirements of the IEC61098 standard and have the capability to use an algorithm based on Gaussian/Bayesian statistics, which is in accordance with the ISO 11929:2019 standard.

If contamination is detected, a visual and audible alarm is triggered, and the display shows the quantity and location of the contamination. The system records a database with date and time stamps, indicating the number of measurements performed, the parameters used, error messages, etc. The GEM™-5 monitors are robust, reliable, and extremely easy to operate.

EnergoService extends its gratitude to the personnel of the Kozloduy NPP for their trust, commitment to the implementation, metrological assurance, and commissioning of the GEM™-5 monitors. We appreciate the excellent cooperation during the execution of this initial stage of the contract.

The management of EnergoService also expresses gratitude to colleagues from “EQE Bulgaria” AD and “Atomenergoremont” AD, who provided invaluable assistance during the installation of the monitors and related project activities.
