Delivery, installation and commissioning of whole body contamination monitor TwoStep-Exit II

All project activities for installation of seven new monitors TwoStep-Exit II with gamma and beta detectors for whole body surface contamination measurements in NPP “Kozloduy” were successfully completed.

The project also included modernization of the control of whole body alpha, beta contamination monitors type RTM860TS.
The monitors TwoStep-Exit II are manufactured by Mirion Technologies with a new generation BetaFibre beta fiber detectors. Detectors work without gas, measuring beta and gamma radiation with significantly higher sensitivity.
Centralized monitoring system (CeMoSys) for processing and storing information from new installed and modernized monitors was implemented.

This is the biggest single project for delivery and modernization of personnel radiation protection equipment in central and Southeastern Europe up to date. During the completion of the project some unique activities as seismic qualification of monitors TwoStep-Exit II were performed. The seismic qualification was organized by EnergoService and performed together with EQE – Bulgaria in the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy laboratory. Another unique operation was the disassembling, transportation and reassembly of the monitors at the places of installation performed by company specialists. The implementation of all activities was in compliance with the usual activities in the NPP as well as the Outage program, without interruptions of personnel access to the controlled area. Despite of all occurred complications the project was completed successfully before the deadline.
